johnny temple
Johnny Temple is the editor-in-chief and publisher of Akashic Books, an Independent book publisher based in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. He also plays bass guitar in two rock bands, Girls Against Boys and New Wet Kojak, both of which have released numerous recordings and toured extensively throughout the world. Johnny writes on culture and politics for various publications, including The Nation, Publishers Weekly, Punk Planet, and Bust. Temple received a BA in Afro-American Studies from Wesleyan University and a masters degree in social work from Columbia University. Johnny Temple is perfectly positioned to discuss the intersection of music and politics as well as publishing and politics, answering questions about both industries and what it means to go DIY, “making it” as a musician, and using music and culture to affect politics.
