Angela Rose has been a pioneer around the issue of sexual assault for nearly ten years. She captivates audiences of all types and inspires communities to be involved in shattering the silence of sexual violence as well as motivating us to turn personal tragedy into triumph. She specializes in customized workshops and keynote addresses and is a true example of how a terrible experience can change one’s life, but not one's spirit.

In 1996, a repeat sexual offender who was on parole for murder abducted Angela at knifepoint as she left her job at a suburban Chicago shopping mall. She was seventeen years old. In the weeks following the attack, she worked with her community (including past victims of the offender) to change Illinois state law. She was shocked to learn how widespread sexual assault was, and that the majority of it was perpetrated by someone whom the victim knows and trusts. Many people confided to Angela that they had been victimized in the past, though very few had ever reported or shared their story.

Frustrated by the lack of activism on this crucial issue, Angela started the first chapter of PAVE (Promoting Awareness, Victim Empowerment). PAVE is a grassroots nonprofit organization that uses social, educational, and legislative tactics to raise awareness of sexual assault. There are chapters in several states. Recognizing that sexual assault is not a “women’s issue” but a “human issue”, Angela also created the organization Men Making a Difference (MMD).

In 2004, Angela Rose launched her business, Desert Rose Promotions, using art to awaken social consciousness. Angela continues her speaking and networking tours to a vast array of people. From national conferences to educational settings to the business arena, Angela’s inspirational story is one that resonates with everyone. She is able to tailor her multimedia presentations to any specific need or audience.

Angela has been featured on the Montel Williams Show and The John Walsh Show as well as highlighted in teen magazines such as CosmoGIRL and Girls Life.

"Cool Girl.  Six years ago, 17-year-old Angela Rose was walking to her car in a parking lot when she was abducted at knifepoint.  Though traumatized, Angela turned her tragedy into positive..." Girl's Life, 02/02
